What are the Options?

Laser and Pulsed Light treatments are the most common treatment options for laser hair removal services. The information below is intended to provide some guidance and general equipment information. If you need more information or assistance to determine which is the right aesthetic laser for your practice, contact us at The Laser Warehouse at 954.254.4612. We can advise you on the pros and cons of each laser type and help you make the decision.

The most important things to consider when selecting the right laser for your practice is skin type and hair color. When treating black skin, the safest option is Nd:YAG. Thus the Nd:YAG has become one of the most popular cosmetic laser types for hair removal treatments. The Alexandrite laser is another popular option.

Candela GentleYag: The Candela GentleYag receives high marks from end users when it comes to effective resuts on darker skin types. The Candela GentleYag does require a topical anethesia and/or oral pain medication to get through the treatment process. The GentleYag does offer other treatment options such as skin rejuvenation, wrinkle reduction and vein treatments, but laser hair removal is it’s primary function.

Candela Gentlelase: The Gentlelase has an Alexandrite laser and is another excellent option by Candela. This unit comes with a dynamic cryogen cooling feature that increases safety and patient comfort. The Gentlelase is delivers permanent hair reduction on skin types I – IV. The system is fast and easy to use.

Candela GentleMax: TThe GentleMax combines the efficiency of an Nd:YAG laser and the Alexandrite laser. The Gentlemax offers a powerful way to remove hair. The Alexandrite laser works best on lighter skin and the Nd:YAG is best for darker skin tones. Unlike other laser treatments, the GentleMax™ laser system has been designed to work on any patient with minimal risk (even in darker skin tones) and can remove hundreds of hair follicles at the same time.

Palomar – LuxY™, LuxYs™, LuxR™ & LuxRs™

The Palomar StarLux® System is most effective on early growing (anagen) hair. For that reason, there will be variability in the extent of hair reduction at different body sites based on the duration of the hair growth cycle. For hair removal and the treatment of pigmented lesions, the melanin in hair follicles and hyperpigmented basal layer cells is targeted by selecting the desired fluence and pulse width.

Syneron – DS and DSL Applicators

The DSL applicator is a true diode laser handpiece and highly effective for laser hair removal. The DS IPL handpiece is also for hair removal and works on the eMax and eLight systems.
