IPL Photofacial is a cosmetic treatment through the use of IPL technology that produces healthier and younger looking skin. As adults age, visible signs of sun damage, time, and lifestyle choices appearing in everyone’s complexion. Common changes to aging skin may take the form of wrinkles, freckles, Rosacea, dark spots and blotch skin, broken capillaries, redness of the face and neck, enlarged pore sizes and uneven pigmentation. Photofacial is the only procedure that can treat vascular redness, the appearance of Rosacea, pigmented brown spots, sun damage, skin texture, and collagen structure all at once. With the use of Intense Pulsed Light (IPL™) technology, dramatic improvements can now be accomplished with little or no “downtime” and with very minimal discomfort.
Typical Photo Rejuvenation Treatments:
1. Rosacea Treatment: minimizes the overall redness, flushing and tiny blood vessels common to Rosacea. Acne breakouts associated with Rosacea often improve in their frequency and symptoms.
2. Sun damage to the face (photo-aging): Photofacial treatment does reduce some freckling, fine wrinkling and irregular pigmentation, ultimately creating a smoother appearance to skin. You can even expect some reduction in pore appearance.sun damage treatment
3. Sun damage to the chest and back: (photo-aging) Freckling and irregular pigmentation to the chest and/or back can be reduced through Photofacial treatments, ultimately improving the overall appearance of the skin. Redness on the chest associated with excessive sun exposure can also be reduced through photofacial treatments.
4. Sun damage to the hands and arms: (photo-aging, also called “liver spots”) The appearance of liver spots can be reduced by this treatment in particular, the freckling and irregular pigmentation that often appears on sun damaged hands and arms.
Typical Results
There will be a gradual decrease in the overall flushing, redness, and dilated capillaries. People with visible aging from the sun will see an improvement in the appearance of their skin; skin will be smoother and there will be a noticable reduction in fine wrinkles, a reduction in pore size and the fading of sun spots. People with rosacea will notice an improvement in breakouts and will be able to decrease or in some cases discontinue their medications.
Treatment Process
A treatment typical takes 20 to 40 minutes. Mild discomfort can be expected. For those that are more sensitve to discomfort, a topical anesthetic cream can be applied about 15-30 minutes prior to treatment. After PhotoRejuvenation treatments there is typically no discomfort. Immediately following a treatment, a patient’s skin may appear more red and flushed than usual and the brown spots that were treated appear slightly darker. Over the course of the next several days, the brown spots will increase in color and then flake off in the following days.
